First Alert Storm Team Chief Meteorologist Ed Wilson knows Iowa weather! Wilson grew up in Grundy Center, Iowa where he and his meteorologist grandfather studied Iowa storm systems when Wilson was a child. Those early experiences led him to the profession he loves - predicting Iowa weather on a daily basis. He's been doing it now for more than 20 years!

Ed got his start at KIMT-TV in Mason City before coming to WHO-TV in 1988.  Ed earned his Certificate of Meteorology from Mississippi State University.

Ed is very active in our community exciting children about the magic of Iowa's weather everyday at the Science Center of Iowa and serving as chief emcee for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Walk to Cure Diabetes for more than 12 years.

When not working on the latest seven-day forecast, Wilson enjoys spending time with his wife, Angela, his daughter, Faith, and son, Cole. When not talking about the weather, Ed likes to be out enjoying it with a round or two of golf.
