DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- More than 600 people and 1,000 pounds of bacon were expected at this weekend's annual Bacon Fest in Des Moines.

One of the highlights of this year's Blue Ribbon Bacon Fest is the chocolate chunk cookies with bacon made by Baby Boomers Cafe. Cafe owner Rodney Maxfield said they'd sold more than 2,800 cookies by earlier this week.

He says the cookies are popular because people love both cookies and bacon. The festival ended with a bacon-eating contest.
