MISSING STUDENT: Twenty-one-year-old Jonathan Lacina was last seen leaving an apartment in Ames the night of January 22nd
AMES - Iowa State student Jonathan Lacina has been missing since he disappeared on the night of January 22, 2010. More than 100 people, including divers and volunteers, scoured the Iowa State University campus, looking for any sign of him on Sunday.

Friends said the ISU senior, majoring in Graphic Design left a gathering at an apartment at 300 Stanton Ave. at around 9:30 p.m. on Friday, January 22nd. Friends said he told them he was going home. He hasn't been seen or heard from since.

"Disappearing is not something that would be consistent with who Jon is," said his father, Tom Lacina of Grinnell. The Lacina family is relying on searchers who explored alleys and dumpsters, and divers who examined a partially frozen Lake Luverne.

As darkness fell on Sunday though, they had found no clues and no leads. Annette Hacker, a university spokesperson, said searchers would likely focus their efforts inside campus buildings on Sunday night.

Tom Lacina described his son as, "Pretty even keel. Liked to do things fairly safely. Is not a risk-taker."

ISU Police Chief Jerry Stewart asked Ames residents to "...look in their garages, out buildings, their property, etc. But, again, (do) not touch anything that (appears) out of place, but simply call local law enforcement." The number to call with information is (515) 294-4428.

Jonathan Lacina is 5'11" tall. He was last seen wearing a black coat and blue jeans. Lacina's father reported him missing on Saturday morning. He lived in Buchanan Residence Hall, two-and-a-half blocks away from where he was last seen.
