Speaker of the House Talks Education in Des Moines
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi joined congressman Leonard Boswell and state and local officials in Des Moines on Saturday to talk education.

"With the assurance that have to be met and have been met that the funds will be used as they are intended, and we will be ever vigilant throughout the country to ensure that they do meet the needs of our children," Pelosi said.

Iowa has already received more than $300-million in federal education stimulus money. It's credited with preventing teacher lay-offs, and improving facilities and curriculum. Hiatt Middle School principal Spence Evans says every dime his school receieves will be well spent, "Please watch what we do in the future, and you'll see how the money is paying off for the taxpayers."
