A metro family is watching the images of devastation in Haiti on television as two members of the family witness the aftermath first hand. "There's a helpless feeling of not being able to wrap your arms around your kids," says Jaime Stanley.

She and her husband adopted two children in Haiti. "We just saw their faces and I was like, that's my daughter and that's my son. There wasn't a doubt," she says. Six-year-old twins Jean Dany and Danise live at God's Littlest Angels. The orphanage is located in the suburbs of Port au Prince. While the building shook and swayed, the family was relieved to learn that all 160 children survived the earthquake.

Their concern now is how much longer the disaster will delay their adoption. "It's quite likely our paperwork is under some rubble in a building," says Jason Stanley. "We were getting pretty close to bringing them home. We've been in the process for about three years," he says. While the adoption is official, the twins are still waiting on passport and Visa applications. The family hoped they would come home to Iowa this May, but there's no telling now when it could be.
