The Iowa Attorney General's office is shutting down a so-called foreclosure rescue company. Tom Miller says a Georgia company called Guaranteed Loan Modifications Incorporated must completely stop offering service in Iowa.
He's also calling for the company to refund hundreds of dollars to Iowa consumers. The company broke a new Iowa law that prohibits "mortgage-rescue" schemes from taking any payments in advance for help in preventing foreclosure.
Miller says if you're having trouble making payments call the free Iowa Mortgage Help Hotline at 877-622-4866.
