Fire destroyes abandoned Ankeny farmhouse |
Ankeny Police have made two arrests in the suspected arson of an abandoned farmhouse. Ankeny firefighters were called to the corner of 36th Street and State Street just before 6:00 a.m. on Monday.
Shortly before emergency personnel arrived at the fire a white General Motors vehicle with two males inside was seen leaving the property.
Because the house was known to be abandoned, firefighters allowed the structure to burn to the ground.
Tuesday, Ankeny Police arrested 20-year-old Brady Meylor and 18-year-old John Webb, both of Ankeny. They were charged with second degree arson and first degree criminal mischief.
A bond of $10,000 was set for each.
