It was a scary situation along Interstate 235 when an eleven-year-old was found wandering next to the freeway.
Des Moines Police say an autistic student walked away from Smouse Opportunity School around the noon hour Monday. He made his way to the interstate, where officers say cars had to drive around the boy.
A driver picked up the child and met up with police at a nearby gas station. He was returned to school where his mother was waiting.
