A judge has delayed the eluding police trial of the man accused of killing an Iowa high school football coach.
Judge Christopher Foy on Monday postponed Mark Becker's trial from Dec. 8 until Jan. 12 in Butler County. Online court records show Becker's attorney, Susan Flander, filed a motion seeking a continuance.
Becker, of Parkersburg, is accused of leading police on a chase the weekend before he allegedly shot Aplington-Parkersburg coach Ed Thomas in June. Becker is accused of threatening a Cedar Falls man and damaging his garage on June 20.
After his arrest, Becker was admitted to a Waterloo hospital for evaluation then released June 23. The next morning he's accused of shooting Thomas.
Becker is charged with first-degree murder. A trial date in that case hasn't been set.
