MOVING AHEAD: Film tax credits are being reinstated for the projects approved by the state before the program was suspended
The Iowa Department of Economic Development has reinstated the film tax credits for the projects already given approval.

New projects will not be approved until the investigation into the Iowa Film Office's practices are completed and a review can be done by Gov. Culver and the Legislature.

The announcement was made by Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller Monday afternoon.

Governor Culver originally suspended the program in September when questions arose about improper reimbursements and a lack of documentation for film projects.

In a memo to the producers of the film "Blackbeard," the interim director of IDED, Fred Hubbell, writes, "The suspension of contracting for this film is being lifted based on the status of the project."

The memo explains the process the production companies must go through to obtain the tax credits once a contract is signed.
