West Des Moines Police found a bomb in the back of a vehicle when an officer pulled it over early Tuesday morning.
Police pulled over 20-year-old Ryan Young around 1:30 near the Hy-Vee on Grand Avenue. A sergeant says Clive Police put out a call that the vehicle was wanted in an attempted robbery.
Police found a bag of firecrackers and a quarter pound bomb when they looked inside.
Clive Police arrested Young and his girlfriend for attempted theft. Young was also charged with possession of an explosive.
Officers called the Des Moines bomb squad in around 4:00 Tuesday morning to take care of the explosive.
