A construction worker died Wednesday morning after a tragic accident. Police were called to 4008 Southwest 26th Street just after 10:00 a.m.
Callers said there had been a construction accident. Officials say a man driving a skid-loader backed into a nearby pole. "When the driver of the Bobcat got out, he noticed the pole had fallen on his co-worker and the co-worker was on the ground bleeding," says Sgt. Lori Lavorato with Des Moines Police.
Thirty-two-year-old Andrew Clarke of Des Moines was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. He leaves behind two young children.
