Suspects and Victim Both Wanted by Police
An early morning fight Saturday leaves one man in critical condition and police looking for as many as five suspects. The victim in this case is also wanted by police.

Investigators say the fight happened in the Court Avenue District downtown just after the bars closed Saturday morning. As many as 60 witnesses watched a group of men gang up on 26-year-old Mitchell Darwin, who may have been defending a woman.

Darwin was still in critical condition Monday night. Police say he was kicked in the head several times and knocked unconscious by anywhere from two to five men. It all happened in the middle of 3rd Street about a half block south of Court Avenue.

Apparently the group of men said something to a woman Darwin was with and that touched off the altercation. Police say they do have persons of interest thanks to help from witnesses in the crowd, but still no arrests.

If Darwin recovers from his severe injuries and is able to leave the hospital, he will be arrested on a charge of domestic assault causing injury. His ex-girlfriend told police Darwin entered her apartment, head-butted her and punched her in the head and body several times.
