If you're heading to Iowa City early for the Hawkeye's home opener against Eastern Illinois you can be part of this year's Fry Fest. This year the man the festival is named after coming back to celebrate.
Fry Fest's namesake, Coach Hayden Fry, will be there for the party and a reunion of the 1985 team. Fry coached the Hawkeyes for 20 years. During that time the team won three Big Ten titles and appeared in 14 bowl games.
This weekend, he might have a world record under his belt. Fry Fest attendees are going to try to break the record for the single largest "Hokey Pokey" dance. When asked whether Fry and his wife Shirley would be participating, Fry said laughingly "Yes we are, but I gotta be honest with you I can get my left foot in but I'd really have to struggle to get it out."
The record-breaking Hokey Pokey happens Friday night at the Iowa River Landing at 6:00 p.m.
