Iowa representative Leonard Boswell hopes to win an eighth term in office next year and now he is facing another possible Republican challenger.
Jim Gibbons hopes to go from coach to Congress. Gibbons coached the Iowa State wrestling team for six years. He retired from coaching in 1996 and has since worked as a financial advisor.
Before getting a chance to take on Boswell, Gibbons must first face retired military pilot Dave Funk in the Republican primary. Funk served 10 years with the Iowa National Guard and currently works as a consultant for an aviation security firm.
State senator Brad Zaun is also considering a run. He has yet to make an official announcement.
