Principal arrested for drunk driving (WHO)
A high school principal in Gilbert faces charges of drunken driving after police stopped him for speeding and driving erratically. The Boone County Sheriff's Department says a deputy stopped Gilbert High School principal Joel Weeks early Sunday after spotting his sport utility vehicle speeding and crossing the center line.
Police say Weeks slurred his speech and smelled of alcohol during the stop. He told police he had drank three beers two hours earlier. After failing field sobriety tests, a breath test indicated his blood-alcohol level was above Iowa's legal limit.
Weeks was hired at Gilbert in 2007. He planned to resign at the end of the school year to pursue a doctorate at the University of Northern Iowa.
