A bill being discussed in an Iowa House subcommittee would make it illegal to have or carry a gun in a vehicle on a public highway. The law would apply to all guns expect those that are fastened in cases and have its barrels and attached magazines unloaded.
A person violating the law could get a fine of up to $50. After the bill comes out of subcommittee is will need to be approved by both the House and Senate.
