Now, the men and women of the Iowa National Guard's Second Brigade Combat Team are in Mississippi, where the elements are testing the soldiers' stamina.

The heat is a formidable foe, but shies in comparison to the Taliban. President Obama warned in his address Tuesday night that U.S. forces face a very tough fight and more heartbreak in Afghanistan.

"We're well trained," says Agan. "I'm looking forward to getting over there and completing the mission."
