LOTTERY SECURITY: Iowa's ombudsman is praising the Iowa Lottery’s attempts at increasing security
The state ombudsman says the Iowa Lottery is safer for consumers than in the past, but he'll keep watching to make sure it's protecting players from retailer fraud.

William Angrick sent a letter to Iowa Lottery CEO Terry Rich, thanking him for a productive meeting in January to discuss security issues. Angrick says he was pleased with the lottery's modifications, including asking customers to sign tickets.

Angrick issued a report last April criticizing the lottery for failing to be aggressive enough about protecting consumers.

The investigation began after questions arose when an Iowa store clerk won the lottery six times in 12 months, collecting $264,000. A lottery investigation concluded the clerk honestly won the money because she was a heavy player of lottery games.
