ISU Extension cuts mean Adams County will lose its extension director for a regional director (WHO-TV) |
"Adams County and the area would definitely be losing a quality person that has benefitted the 4-H program and also all the community programs," said Corning 4-H member Blake Anderson.
Officials say Iowa State will reduce the number of county extension directors in the state from 97 to 20, replacing them with regional directors. The university is making the cuts due to a loss of $38 million in state cuts.
Extension directors perform a variety of duties in their communities, helping farmers, students, and county fair organizers. They are also typically coordinators and recruiters for the county 4-H program.
