Authorities say they have charged the live-in boyfriend of a woman with first-degree murder in her death.
Johnson County authorities say Eric Osborn allegedly hit 34-year-old Sarah McKay with a baseball bat and strangled her in a trailer home located outside Iowa City. Authorities said Osborn on Wednesday confessed to the murder.
According to authorities, Osborn said the two had been drinking Sunday before the incident, and he had also smoked marijuana and taken pills.
Investigators say Osborn said he blacked out and didn't remember what he'd done. He said he tried to kill himself after realizing he'd killed McKay.
The woman's body was found early Monday at the Modern Manor mobile home park.
Osborn is being held in lieu of $1 million bond in the Johnson County Jail.
