Wisconsin Company Pulls Out Of Iowa Wind Tower Factory
A Wisconsin company has announced it is scrapping plans to build a $90 million wind tower factory in Keokuk.

Keokuk Mayor David Gudgel says he wasn't surprised to learn that Beloit, Wis.-based Hendricks Holding Co. won't build the plant, which would have employed about 400 workers.

Hendricks President Jeffrey Stentz confirmed the decision on Wednesday, saying the death of company founder Ken Hendricks in 2007 caused the company to regroup and reprioritize projects. He says the company is still in the wind tower business after purchasing Roug A/S in 2007. The company has wind tower plants in Germany and Denmark.

Stentz says Hendricks will look at opening a U.S. plant in the future but a decision won't be made until 2010.
