Miss Iowa, Katherine Connors, received national attention this week by being a good sport and making a good pitch.

After Washington Nationals fans booed Miguel Batista Tuesday when he subbed for star pitcher Stephen Strasburg, Batista said it was like fans came to see Miss Universe and saw Miss Iowa instead.

Batista now says Miss Iowa is gorgeous and has sent her flowers as an apology.

On KXNO's Murph & Andy Show, Katherine Connors told Keith Murphy she appreciates the flowers, but what she'd really like is to throw out the first pitch in Washington.

The Nationals have invited her to do just that Friday night. "I'll be in Washington, D.C. watching the game, then flying back into Des Moines the next morning. I heard they want to get a picture of us shaking hands. He'll be the catcher, I hear also. And I hyped myself up as a really good pitcher and now I have to prove it. I only have one day to practice," says Connors.

Channel 13's Andy Fales is headed to Washington, D.C. and he'll be there to cover Miss Iowa's major league pitching debut. The game begins at 7:05 p.m.
