Groundbreaking for NextEra (WHO)

Construction officially began Wednesday on a new wind turbine repair facility in Story County. Governor Culver and Story City officials attended a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday morning.

The $20 million plant is expected to create 75 construction jobs and about 25 permanent jobs. Workers at the facility will repair turbines and other power generating equipment. Construction of the NextEra facility is expected to be complete by the end of the year.

NextEra Energy is the largest wind and solar energy producer in North America. It currently operates four wind facilities in Iowa.
