Fire investigators are still looking into a fire that killed an elderly woman in Boone County. Sunday afternoon, firefighters were called to a farm southeast of Ogden on County Road R-18. When crews arrived, they saw flames coming out of an unattached garage.
Eighty-year-old Joan Haub was found inside a car in the garage but firefighters say they had no chance to rescue her. The fire was so intense, the heat ignited siding on a house 30 feet away. Firefighters were able to save the house.
Haub is the second fire death in Boone in less than a week. Twenty-five-year-old Benjamin Ziegenmeyer died last Tuesday in a downtown apartment fire.
