A church group in Perry is doing odd-jobs this week for people in need of a helping hand.

Pastor Rick Gates at Crossroads Church in Perry says this is the fourth year for "Crossroads Week of Service." The idea is to get members of the church out in the community performing tasks for people who need help. Everything from painting, to yard work, to window washing to building a deck to general repair work is on the to-do list.

Gates believes 75 percent of his congregation has participated in some 40 projects over the years. This year they cleared a giant brush pile and painted at the high school among other tasks.
