More layoffs are taking place at Principal Financial in Des Moines. The company announced Thursday afternoon it iseliminating 40 more positions in Des Moines.
A Principal spokesperson released the following statement about the layoffs:
"As part of an ongoing review of our business, we made the decision to eliminate approximately 40 positions in Des Moines. We continually review operations to ensure that resources are in line with business needs. Well-run companies like The Principal must make difficult decisions when customer needs change and work is reduced in some areas as a result. This action helps position the company for continued strength and growth."
Principal just eliminated 75 positions at the beginning of May. The jobs were cut from Principal Global Investors and most of the positions cut were in Des Moines. In December of 2008, the company cut 300 jobs at its Des Moines location.
