A metro woman accused of embezzling nearly $6 million from a West Des Moines insurance company is free on bond, but will be back in court Friday.
Phyllis Stevens is facing additional fraud and money laundering charges. Her arraignment is scheduled for Friday afternoon.
Earlier this week, a grand jury indicted her partner, Marla Stevens, on similar charges. Investigators believe the women used the money to purchase multiple properties, make significant campaign contributions and live luxuriously at the Bellagio hotel and casino in Las Vegas.
