A three-year-old child is reported in critical condition after falling three stories from a window at a Des Moines apartment building.
Authorities say the child on Thursday apparently leaned against a newly-installed screen, which gave away. The child, whose identity was not immediately available, fell to the sidewalk below.
Des Moines police spokeswoman Sgt. Lori Lavorato says the child was in emergency surgery at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
