Hundreds of motorcyclists created an amazing sight on the highways between Knoxville and Van Meter Friday afternoon. Most of the motorcyclists were veterans, escorting the remains of seven veterans of foreign wars.

The remains had been left unclaimed for years at a funeral home in Knoxville. The troops had served as early as World War II through the Vietnam era. They were buried during a full military funeral at the new Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter.

"If you look around there's a lot of veterans here that, this is something we need to do. We need to put these guys to rest the way they should be," said Bill Yates of Norwalk.

The "Missing in America" project located the remains. The group says there are thousands of unclaimed veterans at funeral homes across the country.
