A water main break near the Riverfront YMCA in downtown Des Moines has forced the city to close part of Locust Street. A YMCA spokesperson says a pipe running to the building's sprinkler system burst under the street.
The water rose causing Locust Street to buckle. The westbound lanes of Locust Street have been closed indefinitely. The YMCA was closed until early afternoon because it had no water.
