We first met Patricia Neely during an interview in January of 2002. At the time, she was a teaching at Stowe Elementary School. It is hard to believe the woman who was grading papers is the same woman trapped below the Center Street dam Tuesday.
"It is incredibly disturbing. I don't know how anyone could witness that," says Neely's trainer, Angel Simon.
According to Simon, Patricia is a typical retired teacher, who enjoys spending her days with her family, especially her husband, Alan.
"Patty referred to him as the love of her life," says Simon. "They did everything together."
Everything including boating. But as the boat approached the dam, Alan reportedly prepared to be separated from Patricia, telling her to put on a life jacket, before donning his own.
"Our hearts go out to Patty, her children and her grandchildren."
