Drive to Intercept Hunger

WHO-DT is partnering with Ramsey Mazda, Subaru, BPG and the Des Moines Area Religious Council's Emergency Food Pantry to promote the "Drive to Intercept Hunger" campaign. Each Friday night at a Central Iowa football game, WHO-DT will be live encouraging fans to stop by the Channel 13 tent and donate food items to the cause as well as meet Andy Fales and Ed Wilson! The first 100 fans to donate food, will receive a special "Drive to Intercept Hunger" Channel 13 t-shirt!

The Des Moines Area Religious Council's Emergency Food Pantry is committed to providing food to our pantry sites at no cost; they rely on support from generous contributors. Financial contributions are used to buy food at wholesale while donated food items are sorted, repackaged and then given to the pantry sites. They especially need the following food items:

  • Canned fruit
  • Canned meals (chili, stew, Chef Boyardee, etc.)
  • Canned soups
  • Canned vegetables and beans
  • Cereal
  • Diapers
  • Fruit and vegetable juices
  • Infant formula and baby food
  • Instant potatoes
  • Macaroni and cheese dinner
  • Macaroni and spaghetti
  • Peanut butter
  • Rice
  • Saltines
  • Spaghetti sauce
  • Tuna
