The Illinois Department of Health has cited a Galesburg nursing home for mold.

On Aug. 12, the Department of Health conducted an investigation at Galesburg Terrace and found black mold in seven resident rooms and in one of the shower rooms.

The nursing home also received citations for errors in ventalation care and errors in administrating residents' medication.

Now a federal agency will determine the fine for those citations. The nursing home can appeal, however it is unclear if that will happen. Gem Healthcare, which operates Galesburg Terrace, did not return phone calls for comment.

A spokesperson with the health department says this is the first time they've cited Galesburg Terrace for mold issues.
